Javidnamah - Epic Poem
In the previous class you read that our national poet Allama Iqbal also wrote poems in Persian. Javidnamaha is a long epic poem, which Iqbal considered to be his best work of poetry.
This is an imaginary poem about the poet's journey to heaven where he meets many of the great maem and women of the past. His guide is Rumi ( the Aurthur of the Mathnavi), whose soul takes him through the various regions in the other world. Among the people whome Iqbal meets on this imaginary journey are Jamaluddin Afghani ( you will read about him in this blog), Hallaj ( a great Sufi saint), Ghalib , Quratul Ain Tahira ( a pious lady from Persia), Bhatri Hari ( a great Hindu Poet), Sultan Tipu, and many others.
